The kraftliner mill Smurfit Kappa Piteå in Sweden is the first customer to install ContainerEye, a blue tidy container with a PulpEye cabinet equipped with modules for kappa number, crill, fibre and shives analyses. The ContainerEye is a turnkey delivery ready to connect with sample points, water, electricity and sewer. It offers customers a cost efficient package solution in its literal sense.

“Long distances from sample points are normally no problems and the PulpEye unit can be placed in a quiet and clean spot, beneficial to users as well as to the analyser,” says Öjvind Sundvall, MD, PulpEye. “However, in cases where there is no such possibility we can now offer ContainerEye, the cost efficient and perfect environment for users and analyser.”

It is a turnkey solution containing a PulpEye cabinet with built-in analysis modules in a handy container delivered and ready to be connected to sample points, water, electricity and sewer. The installation is fast as there are no needs to re-build or build new facilities in pulp mills or in paper mills’ stock preparation. The PulpEye unit is placed in a protected, quiet, clean and temperature controlled container. All in all, it is a cost efficient solution for the customer.

“According to our project standard the costs to establish purpose built facilities are very high,” says Henrik Nordqvist, Smurfit Kappa Piteå. “However, as we rent the equipment the concept with a suitable container is perfect as future changes can always be done due to equipment needs, structure and location. It is advantageous for the customer to evaluate the equipment during a long time as well as for the supplier to develop it”.

“Our first ContainerEye was delivered to Smurfit Kappa Piteå. The experiences from this unconventional solution are good and the next delivery is already in the pipeline. Apart from specific pulp and paper mills we have also received enquiries from other customers who have a need to move the online analyser equipment to different mills within the same group,” Öjvind Sundvall finishes.
